My first instinct is that I'm mostly interested in messing with the machine's presets and built-in capabilities to create sounds, but does anyone with real experience have any insight into what I might not understand I'm missing out on? Thanks for your help.OCTAPAD SPD-30 Version 2 India Updates & Drivers A lot of these demo videos, the players are using the Roland SPD-SX almost like one of those launchpads to play parts of songs from different samples, is this what people are warning against when they're talking about the Nord Drum 3p being "just" a drum synth? That style of edrumming just isn't something I'm interested in. As far as I understand it, this means that I won't be able to load sounds and samples, but I don't think I'm really interested in messing with sampling. I'm a funk/modern jazz player so this video of JD Beck on the ND 3p has me pretty sold, but I'm reading a lot of warnings about how it's NOT a drum "sampler" but a drum synth, which is being framed as a bad thing on these websites. Most videos demoing these two options (Roland SPD-SX and Nord Drum 3p) are using these as supplements to a kit or just making the goofiest beats imaginable with the weirdest sounds, but I'm looking for a complete replacement. I've been comparing two options in particular, but I have no experience with multipads/synths/controllers in general so I'm struggling to find a deciding factor. I'm looking for a multipad that will serve me best out-of-box for practicing and recording at home. I live in an apartment so I stopped drumming for other quieter instruments, but I've been missing it a lot.
